So, I got some feedback from my list...it's crap I guess... yeah they pissed in my Cheerios this morning.

AV14 is an issue but really how many competitive list have LR spam? 2 Mawlocs and a T-Prime can punch AV14 with some work.

I just had my first game against tyranids in over 8 months last night, so I have a new respect for them. So even while I am not the expert, I do like how the list hits the backfield hard.
ReplyDeletePlaying IG, even up to 20 vehicles, I have never had an issue with a mawloc, or it make its points against me. So I am not really a fan of two of them in a list. I think I would rather see one, since I think two is overkill on what you are using them for. While I think it will beat down some baby seals, I don't think its a trick that will work against most parking lots.

ReplyDeleteI had 2 Mawlocs in the list originally to help with the Doom and to bunch any units up for the Genestealers to multi-assault. Plus their Large blast AP2 will hurt GK and Deathwing. They are meant more for an initial hit and then distraction. Burrowing to avoid KP.
The intent of the list is to play a truncated Null Deployment game for tournies.
I really want to get into Nids but want to get a solid jump on a competitive list before I drop the $$$.
The meta around here is mostly Mech. I don't have a problem tabling the bugs in a tourney with my IG, SM or DE. They don't scare me. I have not faced this list across the table from me and I think that it would be out of the expected norm for a tourney.

ReplyDeleteThe Parasite is pretty cool as a HQ, but has no unit to go with. The Parasite needs a Gargoyle unit it can join. Anything else it's just going to hang back with as nothing else can move 12" normally.
Your Mawlocs aren't that cool and a one shot gimmick unit. I know they are for car parks, but when they surface they won't re-burrow because they will be dead. A I.G army packs plenty of plasma and melta and can easily take both those down in a single volley.

Three of my local players are big tyranid players, you may have met two of them in Indy during the Semi's. You've seen how I play my Guard, with the AV14 Russ's leading the way and holding the line, and honestly, the only real Nid list that has given me problems is the triple Tervigon list that keeps spawning gaunts all game long.
ReplyDeleteI think, honestly, that while the meta may have moved to the wall of AV 12 or lower, the times when you actually meet AV14 it may prove incredibly hard for your stuff to pop. Is 20 stealers backed up by 4 smaller squads of stealers going to give most players fits? Not really. Now, multiple squads of them all around 15-20 in size? Very probably. But, I would still pack more Mosters than you have, just for their sheer ability to draw so much firepower away from the stuff that you actually plan to be killing with.
