Yottaquest Battle Reports 1/22/11 Game 3 vs Mech IG

My third game of the day was against a club member/teammate/adversary. We seem to play each other the 3rd game quite often. He has won Best Painted many times including this tourney.
We both thought we were out of the running, so we just played a game, smoked a few played some more...

He place his objective right corner. I placed mine left corner.

Terrain was good with ruins and TLOS blocking. I won the roll and deferred First turn. Warmonger didn't deploy anything and decided to bring most of it on first turn. He outflanked his 2 Vendetta Melta Vets. I outflanked the Baal.

Turn 1:

He brought on:

Flamer/Melta Vets Chimera left flank behind a TLOS blocking hill.

Vendetta left middle.

LRBT squadron and Executioner center.

Basilisk, Melta Vet Chimera and CCS Chimera right flank on/near Objective.

I brought on:

1 Predator in front of RAS Razorback left flank on my Objective.

1 Predator in front of RAS LRC, 2 Speeders, RAS Razorback center towards the LRBT's.

Vindi in front of 2 RAS Razorbacks right flank toward his Objective.

I fired all center units into Vendetta...wreck.

Objectives:

Turn 2:

1 Vendetta shows up left side and drops off the Melta Vets.

LRBT's  move up left middle. Executioner moves up right middle.

Melta Vets Chimera and CCS Chimera move up behind ruin right side.

I get Shield power.

Basilisk fires at Trio right side and scatters off.

Melta Vets pop the Predator. Vendetta Shakes the Razorback.

LRBT's Shake and weapon destroy SSHB off Predator center. Shield saves rest of hits.

Baal comes in behind the Melta Vets left side. 

RAS LRC, Predator and RAS Razorback move up right middle towards LRBT's.

Vindi and 2 RAS Razorback move up right towards his Objective, pop smoke.

2 Speeders move left toward Vendetta.

Baal Flames (2 HF, 1 Inferno) Melta Vets and Vendetta, wipe squad and Shake/Immobilze Vendetta.

Speeder weapon destroyed SSLasC.

Speeder Shakes Vendetta.

RAS LRC and Razorback Stun 1 LRBT.

Predator fires on Flamer/Melta Chimera...nothing.

Vindi pops Basilisk with direct hit. Bigger gun hehe.

2 RAS Razorback Stun CCS Chimera.

Objectives:

Turn 3:
Vendetta comes on right flank behind Trio. Deploys Melta Vets.
Flamer/Melta Vet Chimera moves out behind Baal left side.
LRBT's move to get Cover (1 LRBT behind ruin)
Executioner moves right toward Trio.

I get Shield power.

Vendetta fires at Razorback left side...nothing.
Flamer/Melta Chimera shakes Baal with MultiLaser.
LRBT fires on LRC...nothing, weapon destroy MM on Speeder.
Vendetta pops Vindi. I should have parked a Razorback behind it...oh well.
Melta Vets pop RAS Razorback right side, Morale ok.
Speeder moves toward Chimera left side.
Speeder moves flat out behind ruin, center.
Baal moves as close to Chimera as possible, left side.
RAS LRC and 1 RAS Razorback move toward right middle.
Libby gets out of LRC in cover.
RAS gets out of Razorback and moves next to Melta Vets right side.
RAS moves out of cover next to Melta Vets, right side.

Razorback pops CCS Chimera, right side.
Libby Fears CCS...they stick on a 3.
Razorback weapon destroys Vendetta center LasC, left side.
Predator Stuns Chimera left side.
RAS LRC and Razorback Stun Melta Vet Chimera.
2 RAS Flame Vets and Vendetta right side. I think they had 2 or 3 Vets left but fail Morale and run. Both RAS assault Vets (they stick Morale) and Vendetta, pop Vendetta and wipe squad.

Turn 4:
LRBT's block path to Objective. CCS move towards LRC.
Executioner moves right toward RAS.

I get Shield power.

Executioner fires on RAS, 2 or 3 dies.
LRBT's fire at LRC, Razorback and Libby. LRC...nothing, wrecks Razorback and hits Libby 2 or 3 times. Libby saves, RAS Morale ok.

Baal moves behind Chimera left side blocking exit ramp.
Speeder moves left of Chimera left side.
Predator moves right of Chimera left side.
Speeder moves next to Melta Vet Chimera CONTESTING.
Razorback moves towards CCS right side.
2 RAS move towards CCS right side.
RAS gets out and positions on Objective left side.
RAS moves toward Melta Vets. I completely forgot about the RAS in the LRC...

Predator wrecks Chimera. Vets Emergency Deploy 2" around sides and front of wreck. Morale ok.
Baal opens up 3 Flamers (2 HF, 1 Inferno) kills 5.
Speeder HFlamer squad kills 4. Sarge left standing.
Razorback pops Sarge, failing 3 cover saves. Left side secure. Immobile Vendetta with 1 SS LasC left but no trouble to anyone.
Speeder HFlamers Melta Vets, kill 4. Morale ok.
LRC Stuns Chimera.
RAS assaults Chimera...Stun.

Objectives:
BA 1
IG 0

Turn 5:
Executioner moves towards RAS close to Objective.
CCS moves towards RAS.
LRBT's shuffle.

I get Shield power.

Executioner blasts RAS (close quarter next to Chimera), 4 hits...3 1's...oh well. RAS is going in!
LRBT's fire on LRC...nothing.
CCS wreck Speeder.
Melta Vets fire on LRC...nothing.

With not much time left...I leave the left and center alone and concentrate on the Objective action.
RAS moves to position on the Melta Vets and CCS.

RAS Flamers the Melta Vets, kills 3.
Libby Fears the CCS...they stick on snake eyes!...damn CCS!
RAS assaults out of cover...need a 3...3! Multi assault Chimera, Melta Vets, CCS.
Stall combat...TIME!

Win for me, barely. It is always a great game with Warmonger. A chess match from the beginning.
Warmonger ended up in 12th...not where he should have been.

All 3 games were good, 1st I got my ass kicked, 2nd I kicked ass, 3rd was a great close to the day.
